I'll start: Does he do any internal femur lengthening procedures and with which system(s) (I know Paley was a big proponent of the ISKD)?  How much cosmetic LL does he perform?  Does he believe in not lengthening more than 5 cm per segment like Paley?  Costs? etc. etc.  Wink

I am all for LL for guys under average height but at 6 feet even I would say that your problem is purely psychological and to invest in counseling would be a wiser way to spend that money...

I'm below average where I live at, and that's taking whole population. Out on the street, and especially if you take younger guys my age (not my parent's age), they typically tower over me. When I was in the states my height was normal tho.

Gee Shocked, where are you from? Netherland? 183cm is below average? That's incredible. 183cm in China would probably be the tallest guy in the class and will tower over most guys. I hope the God will make everyone the same height in the future. Then our offspring will not need to be bothered by height problem.

Location: I plan on going to China
Time frame: Late summer of 2010 or by 1 Oct 2010

I think so.                                                                                           5'4. 5(164 cm)
5'8.5 (174 cm)
5'8.75(175 cm)

What would you do if you were me? I said 5'8.75 because it would make me 5'9 in shoes,but i guess 5'8'5 is 5'9 in most shoes also.

10 centimeters = 3.93700787 inches
11 centimeters = 4.33070866 inches

this is frist post for me   Grin   cuz I'm just new and its take time to understand everything in English . . .

I'm 25, male . . .  and i think of my tall everyday . . .  and it hurts me rly . . .

do u think i can go for 169-170 on my T&F ? or its will be risk ?

^ Seeing that your goal is well within the conservative range, I believe it would be better to just go up to 7.5 on the tibiae and finish at ~ 170 cm. Of course, if you only want 6 cm, that's perfectly fine as well. Remember that Leg Lengthening can be a tedious - not to mention torturous - ordeal that very few choose to undergo twice.

I started mid-May this summer and it looks like I still have maybe a month(more or less) before I'm completely done and they come off.  My final, overall gain is 3. 78 cm exact measured from the x-ray.  It's not much, but my surgery was not intended for height but to correct my bowlegs(the external fixator used was a Taylor Spatial Frame).  The doctor said during the process I could go for more height if I wanted to, so I thought why not.  The plus side was that it was almost entirely covered by insurance since it was deformity correction.  I know an inch and a half isn't that much, but it makes a big difference when you go from 5'7(short) to 5'8(medium).  I mean, there's something about 5'8 that just makes it "not short" when 5'7 is considered "short".  Course all this is my own opinion.

i have bow legs too. . . . whos your insurance carrier? i would LOVE to pick up a free-height-increase.
