This is a general newbie thread for newbies who cannot find the information that they are looking for and need some help from the more experienced members of the board - or those that are just too lazy or excited to read all of the diaries and FAQs and need pointers Smiley

Come and introduce yourself, and post your general questions to get pointers on how to proceed towards your LL goals!

Anyway, I was going to do LL in Serbia with Dr. Mitkovic this June, but I can't get the money in time so now I want to do it in January 09, if possible.

My question is, will I still be able to do external on my Tibias for the same price? (7,000 euros) This is about 8 months from now and I am worried about two things:
1. The price will increase
2. Dr. Mitkovic will not be performing this surgery anymore.

Does anyone know if Dr. M's prices and availability will stay the same? My limit for money is $20,000, maybe a little bit more, so I hope I will still be able to do it. Is it possible that his prices will decrease?

Hi Bo,

You cannot answer these question, but I'll tell you something about the price, I confirmed with the doctor in January 08 about the price 6,500 Euro, my operation on July 08 and I just found about the new updated prices it increased it become 7000 Euro.

The prices will obviously increase over time for the reasons that I have explained in other threads.

I don't think that he is planning on quitting soon as this is his life Smiley

I wouldn't expect the professors prices to be increasing by next year. Even though he is making a lot more than thhe other doctors at the hospital and i suspect they are jealous of him a little, he really doesn't seem to be in this for the money and i doubt he will be quitting this surgery any time soon, this is what he does, he is good at what he does, why would he want to stop. What makes you thinks he wants to stop performing it?

Bear in mind that, even if the professor doesn't charge more, because most people are looking at the prices in US Dollars, the price will go up regardless of the underlying cost, because of the weakness of the Dollar Smiley

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum. I can't figure out how to post a new topic (may be it's disabled for newbies?), so I suppose my question goes here:

Just how weak is the bone 3-5 years post surgery?

I've read all the threads in this sub forum, but I am still not clear about what the bones will be like after they heal and solidify completely. Would it be safe to say, that if you take a fall from height later on in life, your legs would break at the site of surgery? I would imagine the healing process is not really identical to the natural growing process, the resulting structure, while bony, would probably lack a number of physical and structural features.

Note, I'm not concerned about muscles or tendons, these are understandable, as body mechanics change with longer levers. But I'd just like to know if years down the road I can feel safe in picking up my girlfriend or doing squats or leg presses at the gym, without fearing my legs snapping like matchsticks.

Bones are stronger after they have been broken, not weaker... commonly known fact!

holy s*it admin, if the taller guys start having LL then its going to push us once average guys back down the height chain.

That's true, but the reality for someone of this height is that practical considerations would probably prevent them from getting 10cm on top of 183cm anyway Smiley

I don't think that LL surgery in a world of 6 billion people will make any difference whatsoever. Unless 100s of millions start doing it, which I don't see happening. I see LL as a very niche process, with patients numbering in the dozens, may be eventually thousands at most.

Read Jungle's Diaries in the Diary section. You will find more details about dr Mit's internal device.
However, I don't think it is possible for you to have that device inserted into your legs and then go home and keep working on your job. It is very unlikely if that is what you are thinking.

I would not trust any doctor from India as I am not aware of any skilled surgeons there. Many people claim to have worked with Dr. Paley, but this could mean that they attended one of his seminars.

I suggest that you stick to one of the doctors listed on this forum, as we know that they are legitimate, and you can see diaries and pictures from other people who have had their treatment there.

If you decide to go with someone who has not been checked-out by our community, then you're taking an unnecessary risk in my opinion.

I know of at least two people who had deep bone infections, and one who even had a snapped femur during their treatment in India, and I don't know of ANY patients who have had a trouble-free experience with the surgeons there.

That's why this forum is here - come and here and use the information to decide which doctor is right for you, not the other way around!

Cheers, MMT Wink

Hello,

I'm new in that forum, I already read to much but I didn't find the answer to my "problem".

One LL takes very long time, 3, 4 or 5 months. I work and its difficult to me leave my job for all this time.

How did you resolved that problem? (people that already did the LL)

What do you have in mind to resolve that?  (people that want to do LL)

I want so much to do this, but i can't loose my job  Sad

Please tell me what is your country and what is your job.

Thanks

For your case, I would say try to save up enough so that you can afford to be away from work for about 1 year or find another job that you can do it online or over the phone. other than that, there is not much you can do. There is no free lunch in this world. You have to give before you can get.

Another question.

As you already know, most clinics of LL perform correction of deformities, like genum Varus, valgus and other angular deformities.

Do you know anything about this? Average price? Average duration of process? It's always considered a cosmetic surgery or can be considered for health?

The best person you should consult is your doctor. He can tell you what it can be considered as. I met a guy from the States in Beijing and he did the operation to correct his deformities and I heard he got part/all of the money back from his health insurance. Check with your doctor, he may require you to go for an x-ray test and other tests. Without all that, no one can really tell you what category you may fit in.

hey guys, newbie here.

I just have some questions about whether LLC is right for me.
I'm an average heighted person of 180cm in the morning and 179cm at night. But i do some work in an industry that's very height conscience, modeling. Recently it has become difficult to book jobs due to me not being in that groove height of 6 ft to 6 ft 2. Thus I have begun searching for height increasing methods. This seem to be the only credible way, sans human growth hormones but that causes alot of other physical abnormalities. I will be seeking a 4cm-5cm increase if i'm to do this. My questions are the following

1. Considering the recovery time, risks involved, and expense, is a shin surgery better than a femur surgery? or is it the other way around?

2. I'm pretty skinny, around 142 pounds. Would this pose a problem? i'm healthy though, as far as i know.

3. Which procedure and site is best for what i need? is internal better than external if i'm only looking for 1 to 2 inches?

4. how would you describe the discomfort? i have broken my arm and shoulder before, would this be comparable or much worse?

5. What are the chances of serious risks? i'm talking about limb loss, crippling failure and etc. Do you guys know anyone that has happened to?

I hope those questions can be answered. This seem to be a really tight and helpful community and i'm really glad that i stumbled onto it. I'm currently 18 and will be attending a pretty expensive college next year. I'll be working during the year and in the summer for the next 3 to 4 years and will do the surgery at the earliest of 2011. My dad grew into his early 20s, so i'm hoping for that with me, and gathering money is another reason for that delay.

The final question is that do you guys think that LLC is right for me? i know i'm certainlly not short and getting this surgery for vain reasons may not be really apropos. My parents and friends all kind of flipped out when i told them i was considering this. I mean i only knew of this procedure from Gattaca, and in that movie this seemed like the ultimate taboo. So i'm kind of conflicted and that's why i'm looking for responses from people who's been through the surgery.

I was hoping to make a separate thread but i don't think that's possible cause i just joined so i added this rather long reply to this thread. Sorry for the eye sore.

Hi there.

Pretty much all of your questions are answered in the FAQs and in people's diaries, so I would start there to learn more about what is possible and what is viable.

hey i am new here, i have been reading alot on this forum for the past 2 weeks. I have a few questions..

1. How long does it take before I can have an operaiton? like I want to have an operation on July 2009 (i planned a year off , betweeen college and med school to have this operation). when do I have to start consulting with the doctor ?  I have around 25000 saved up, I am planning on going to beijing for my op.

2. do u know if beijing's procedures are constantly seeking to improve, or are they just static, I know it is impossible to tell, but I am hopeing for a slightly improved procedure in beijing in a year, or anywhere,  I guess my point is, I personally think that doctors who constantly seek for improvement should be better than ones who dont.

3. info@leg-lengthening.com.. uuum i could not send any email to that adress last time.. is there another email adress ? or did I have the address wrong ?

I am currently 20 yrs old.. i guess i should of said that at first and I have stopped growing for a long time lol thats why I have been planning on this surgery. I really want to do this.. but I gues I am just seeking some assurenace since this is really a life-changing experience.
